Reset Mode

Empty your mind. Feel lighter. Under 2 minutes.

What is Reset Mode?

Reset Mode is a guided 3-step flow that takes everything cluttering your mind and helps you resolve it — not just store it. It's the core experience of Brain Dump.

Most productivity apps ask you to organize your thoughts. Reset Mode asks you to finish them. Each thought gets one decision: act on it or let it go.

The Flow

Dump

01

A full-screen textarea. Type everything that's on your mind — no filters, no formatting, no judgment. Multiple thoughts, multiple lines. Just get it all out.

Decide

02

Your text is split into individual thoughts. Each one appears centered on screen, one at a time. You make one decision per thought — no going back, no skipping.

Release

03

What you acted on is saved to your dump. Everything else is gone. You see a summary of what was saved, then a calm confirmation screen.

Decide Phase Actions

Act on this

Saves the thought to your dump as a quick capture. You'll see it in your feed when you return to the app.

Let it go

Discards the thought permanently. It's never saved anywhere. Gone for good — which is the point.

Smart Suggestion

While typing in the main input bar, Brain Dump watches for signs of mental overload: long text, multiple lines, or a rapid burst of typing followed by a pause. When it detects this, a subtle pill appears:

Want to clear these now?

Clicking it captures your current text, clears the input, and opens Reset Mode pre-filled — so you go straight to the Decide phase.

Tips

  • Use it first thing in the morning to clear overnight mental noise.
  • Use it before a focus session to remove distractions from your mind.
  • Don't overthink the Decide phase — your gut reaction is usually right.
  • The "Let it go" option is not failure. It's the whole point.
