Focus Mode
Eliminate distractions and get deep work done with a dedicated, single-task interface.
What is Focus Mode?
Focus Mode is a dedicated state in Brain Dump designed to help you achieve flow. It forces you to commit to a single task for a set duration, replacing the standard dashboard with a minimalist timer and your chosen objective. It's digital blinders for your brain.
Why Use Focus Mode?
Multitasking is a myth. To produce high-quality work, you need deep focus. Brain Dump's Focus Mode removes the clutter of your other notes and tasks, leaving you with only what matters right now.
How it Works
Enter the Focus Zone
Navigate to the Focus tab in the dock. You'll be greeted with a clean setup screen.
Commit to a Task
Type a new objective or select 'Select from Tasks' to pick a recent unchecked task.
Set a Timer
Choose a duration (e.g., 25m for a classic Pomodoro) and hit Start.
Do the Work
The interface transforms into a large countdown timer. No distractions, just you and the clock.
Pro Tips
- The 2-Minute Rule: If a task takes less than 2 minutes, don't use Focus Mode—just do it. Use Focus Mode for deep work.
- Protect the Session: Treat the countdown as sacred. Do not switch tabs or check your phone until the timer hits zero.
- Task Reuse: Use the "Select from Tasks" feature to quickly power through your daily todo list one by one.
